To the staff of sports scools and active members of regional Olympic Academies
On behalf of the Russian Olympic Committee, I congratulate you on Knowledge Day and the beginning of a new academic year 2014/15.
Six months ago, the Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games ended triumphantly for Russia. We managed to brilliantly solve two main problems: to organize and stage the Olympic Games perfectly and in strict accordance with the Olympic Charter and to please Russians with outstanding achievements of our Olympians. I am convinced that the outcome of the XXII Olympic Winter Games will give further impetus to the sports development in our country.
The primary mission of the Russian Olympic Committee is to promote the ideas of Olympism, support mass sports, especially children and youth sports and to help our citizensunderstand that sports lifestyle is a healthy lifestyle. To perform these tasks we need experienced, qualified personnel, which can successfully organize regional Olympic Academies and sports schools.
Besides that, sports schools create favorable conditions for learning and preparing for the Olympic Games. Every fourth Russian athlete who claimed a medal at the Olympic Games in Sochi is a student of a sports institute.
We wish teachers, tutors, all specialists and employees productive work, the implementation of all plans and projects, and we wish the students success in their studies, in knowledge and skill acquisition.
President, Member of the IOC Alexander Zhukov
