ROC President Stanislav Pozdnyakov held a working meeting in Moscow with the head of the International Federation for Equestrian Sports (FEI) and member of the IOC Ingmar De Vos. Both sides discussed prospects for developing equestrian sport in our country, the participation of the Russian dressage team in the Olympic Games in Tokyo, as well as issues related to organizing major international competitions in the Russian Federation.

Today, in Doha, as part of the General Assembly of the Association of National Olympic Committees (ANOC), the ANOC 2019 Awards ceremony took place honouring the best athletes of the year. Russian athlete Dina Averina won in the nomination Best Female Athlete of European Games Minsk 2019. She received the award personally from EOC President Janez Kocijančič.

The noble deed of Russian basketball players at the World Beach Games in Doha received a wide international response. In the middle of the opening match against Uganda in the 3×3 basketball tournament, one of the players from the African team was seriously injured. Due to the lack of substitutions on the Ugandan team, the match was to continue in the 3×2 format. However, our athletes decided to continue the game as a duo – the third basketball player withdrew from the game.

ROC and NOC Spain discussed cooperation

Today, on October 4, the President of the ROC held a working meeting with the Vice President of the National Olympic Committee of Spain and Head of the Spanish Handball Federation Francisco Blazquez. The President of the Russian Handball Federation Sergey Shishkarev also took part in the meeting. Both sides discussed cooperation in various areas, including Russia’s bid to host the European Women’s Handball Championship in 2024.
