On November 30, a reporting and election conference of the All-Russian Athletics Federation (RusAF) took place. Petr Ivanov was elected as the new President of the organization.
The President of the Russian Olympic Committee Stanislav Pozdnyakov commented on the new developments:
“I would like to congratulate, first of all, our entire track-and-field athletics community. The conference has come to an end, and the delegates have chosen a new head of the organization. I hope that the new President of RusAF will be able to solve all the tasks that the Federation now faces.
I have already said that I believe Petr Ivanov will manage and take all the necessary and right steps to overcome the prolonged crisis, including the crisis of confidence, both domestically and internationally.
I would like to wish him productive and successful work, and as soon as possible to unite the efforts of all specialists who are not indifferent to the fate of Russian track-and-field athletics, for the benefit of developing the sport and, of course, to ensure the opportunity for our athletes to participate in all major competitions without any restrictions.
Indeed, there are numerous problems, but I am sure that the new leadership of RusAF will have the necessary professional skills, experience and resources to resolve all issues.”
