  • During the European Fencing Championship in Düsseldorf, Stanislav Pozdnyakov, President of the Russian Olympic Committee and the European Fencing Confederation, four-time Olympic champion, received an honorary award from the International Fair Play Committee. Holding the antique saber in his hands, the President of the ROC made a fencing salute to the organisers and spectators gathered in the stands.

    – Respect is one of the main Olympic values. In the broadest sense, respect for teammates, for opponents and for the rules of the game will always remain the most important concepts for me. And I am very pleased that today the President of the International Fair Play Committee, Jeno Kamuti, and the Honorary Member of the European Fencing Confederation, Bert van de Flier, presented me with this memorable award for adherence to the principles of Fair Play, – said Stanislav Pozdnyakov.
