  • Today, the Russian Olympic Committee held a reporting and election conference of the Freestyle Federation of Russia. Alexey Kurashov, who headed the Federation since may 2016 and was the only candidate in the last elections, was unanimously re-elected as the President of the FFR for the next four years.

    At the Pyeongchang Olympic Games Russian freestyle wrestlers won two bronze medals. Sergey Ridzik became the third in Ski Cross, Ilya Burov won bronze in the Aerials.

    “Two Olympic awards is a good result, a worthy contribution to the national team’s medal haul. At the Pyeongchang Games neither your Federation nor your athletes had any complaint. Our cooperation can serve as an example for other federations”, Stanislav Pozdnyakov noted during the conference.

    On June 3rd, Vyborg hosted the opening of the IX World Games of Young Compatriots and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization member states. The large-scale competitions will feature around 450 athletes aged 14-18 from 35 countries.
