On October 1, a meeting with representatives of the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in the Russian Federation was held at the Russian Olympic Committee. High on the agenda were issues of cooperation within the frames of educational programmes of the ROC and TAFISA, as well as possible new areas of interaction between the National Olympic Committees of both countries.

Representing the ROC was Director General Vladimir Sengleev, Deputy Secretary General, Head of the International Relations Office Yuri Yuryev, Deputy Head of the International Relations Office Alexey Slautin, Head of the Mass Sports Programmes Department Natalya Khamidova and Assistant Director General for Special Projects Dmitry Ukhlin.

The foreign delegation was headed by Charge d’Affaires of the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia, Deputy Head of the diplomatic mission Azis Nurvahyudi, Minister Plenipotentiary, Advisor of the Information and Socio-Cultural Affairs Department Adiguna Vijaya and First Secretary of the Information and Sociocultural Affairs Department Diana Enjay.

The first item on the agenda was discussing the participation of representatives of Indonesian sports organizations in the educational programme “Administration of sports events”, organized jointly with the ROC and The Association For International Sport for All (TAFISA) at the Russian International Olympic University (RIOU).

    – First and foremost, the objective of international educational courses is to promote the 8th TAFISA World Games set to be held in Nizhny Novgorod in 2024. We have launched a programme on the premises of RIOU, where about 1200-1300 participants are trained annually, – said Vladimir Sengleev.  – In accordance with the initial conditions, the number of course participants should have been around 30, however, we received 63 applications with 16 being from Indonesia. To be honest, we did not expect this programme to be of such interest, so now we are working on the possibility of forming additional groups.

The ROC Director General confirmed his determination to further develop and strengthen bilateral relations with representatives of the Indonesian Olympic movement, and also expressed his intention to discuss the signing of an agreement on cooperation between the Russian Olympic Committee and the National Olympic Committee of Indonesia.

As part of the agreement, there are plans for teams and athletes to participate in competitions and training camps on the territory of both countries. Furthermore, an exchange programme is also envisaged for coaches, experts and students, as well as the participation of officials in various congresses, conferences, seminars, courses, joint sports events and different projects.

In addition, the Russian Olympic Committee will be glad to actively interact with colleagues from Indonesia in order to exchange experience in organizing and holding the TAFISA World Games which were held in Jakarta four years ago.

    – Our countries have long-standing, warm and friendly relations. We recognize the merits of Russia in the development of sport and we would like as many representatives of Indonesian sports disciplines as possible to adopt advanced Russian experience, – said the head of the Indonesian delegation Azis Nurvahyudi. – I am convinced that the signing of this agreement will help expand cooperation in the field of sport and strengthen bilateral relations.
