The Russian Olympic Committee is extremely concerned about the events that took place today at the hotel rooms of the Russian biathlon team in Italy’s Rasen-Antholz where the Biathlon World Championship is taking place.

Italian police barged into the rooms of Russian biathletes mere hours before a world championship event seizing personal belongings. The ROC has sent official letters to the Russian Biathlon Union, the International Biathlon Union and the Italian National Olympic Committee with a request for detailed explanations and clarifications in regard to this incident, as well as the grounds and authority of the corresponding powers of the Italian law enforcement agencies to carry out the police raid and procedural actions committed against our athletes.

The Russian Olympic Committee continues to monitor the development of the situation, remaining in constant contact with all sports and government agencies involved.
