  • In the capital of Qatar, Doha, where the First World Beach Games are taking place, a meeting of the ANOC (Association of National Olympic Committees) Culture and Education Commission was held. It was chaired by ROC President and member of the ANOC Executive Council Stanislav Pozdnyakov.

    The members of the Commission discussed issues of increasing the effectiveness and accessibility of Olympic education and promoting the ideas of Olympism through culture and sport.

    – I am very glad that we also managed to touch upon the topic of cooperation with universities and the ability to provide students with scholarships – this is a big step in the development of Olympism on an international scale! In addition, we paid special attention to issues related to the development of an adaptation program and the further development of athletes after the completion of their sports careers, – commented Stanislav Pozdnyakov.

    During the meeting of the ANOC Culture and Education Commission, the results of the past period were reviewed and plans for 2020 were outlined, promising to be full of interesting and outstanding events.

    On June 3rd, Vyborg hosted the opening of the IX World Games of Young Compatriots and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization member states. The large-scale competitions will feature around 450 athletes aged 14-18 from 35 countries.
