  • In Sarajevo, a seminar was held with the participation of the heads of delegations of NOCs, that will take part in the XIV European Youth Olympic Winter Festival (EYOF) from February 9 to 16, 2019.

In the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina, 1,500 athletes will compete for medals in 8 sports – alpine skiing, biathlon, cross-country skiing, figure skating, ice hockey, short track, snowboarding and curling.

    – This was one of the most important weeks right before EYOF. We were able to combine the visits of the EOC Coordination Commission and technical delegates, as well as hold a seminar for the leaders of the National Olympic Committees. I am pleasantly surprised at how well everything was organized here, – Josef Liba, Chairman of EOC Coordination Commission, was quoted as saying on the official website.

According to Mr. Liba, all the representatives of the National Olympic Committees who were present in Sarajevo are completely satisfied with the preparations for the festival.

The participants, including the delegation of the Russian Olympic Committee, not only heard reports from members of the Organizing Committee on topics related to medicine, safety and nutrition of athletes, but also visited eight sites built specifically for EYOF-2019. Among them is the Village of Athletes and the Medal Plaza – the place where the awards ceremony for winners and medalists will take place. According to the organizers, the unification of these two key sites into a single ensemble should create an atmosphere of a real festival.

    – We have all the chances to hold competitions at the highest level, – said Senahid Godinjak, director of the Sarajevo-2019 Organizing Committee. – I am proud of my team and of the work done.

The opening ceremony of the XIV European Youth Olympic Winter Festival will be held on February 10 at the Koshevo stadium in Sarajevo.
