  • The 26th General Assembly of the European Non-Governmental Sports Organization (ENGSO) was held on June 8-9 in Visby (Sweden). The event was attended by more than 70 representatives of the European NOCs and sports confederations.

    In the beginning of the Assembly ENGSO President Carlos Cardoso and Secretary General Stefan Berg welcomed the participants. Yves Le Lostecque, Head of the Sport Unit of the European Commission, told about the events, held with the support of the organization. Also each participant was given a chance to express his point of view regarding the sports program.

    The second day started with Jenny Swender’s speech about the gender equality in the Swedish sports confederation. ENGSO Manager Orsola Tolnay made a report on the importance of the development of amateur sports.

    In addition, participants of the Assembly reported on the work, carried out to date, approved of the changes to the ENGSO Charter and agreed on the event schedule for 2019.

    The ROC at the ENGSO General Assembly was represented by Deputy Head of the International Department Alexey Slautin.

    On June 3rd, Vyborg hosted the opening of the IX World Games of Young Compatriots and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization member states. The large-scale competitions will feature around 450 athletes aged 14-18 from 35 countries.
