  • Within the framework of the implementation of Agenda 2020, IOC President Thomas Bach introduced changes to the composition of the main Commissions of the International Olympic Committee. By the decision of the IOC head, ROC President Stanislav Pozdnyakov was included in the Olympic Programme Commission (it considers including or excluding certain sports from the programme of the upcoming Games), and head of the ROC President’s Office Rodion Plitukhin became a member of the Sport and Active Society Commission.

    Thus, Russia’s representation in the IOC Commissions has increased from 8 to 10 people.

    On June 3rd, Vyborg hosted the opening of the IX World Games of Young Compatriots and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization member states. The large-scale competitions will feature around 450 athletes aged 14-18 from 35 countries.
