    President of the Russian Olympic Committee Stanislav Pozdnyakov took part in the solemn ceremony of awarding diplomas to the students of the program “Master of Sports Administration” of the Russian International Olympic University (RIOU).

    Representatives of the National Olympic Committees of 15 countries attended the RIOU campus this year. In general, since 2014, almost 200 students have become sports managers. Thus, the geography of the Olympic University expanded to 48 states.

    “The RIOU is a visible embodiment of the Olympic heritage, one of the very few educational institutions in the world that have Olympic rings on their diplomas,” Stanislav Pozdnyakov said. – The audience of the flagship program of the University “Master of Sports Administration” came from different countries and Russian regions in order to sit together and under the guidance of Russian and foreign teachers and top experts, comprehend the complex science of effective sports management within several months. I am happy to congratulate you, dear friends! You have done a good job and have earned a diploma with your academic achievements, which is recognized everywhere, highly internationally.

    On behalf of the Russian Olympic Committee, and on my own behalf, I would like to thank the administration, the teaching staff and all the staff of the University for the significant contribution to the improvement  of  professional competence of the sports industry employees.

    The Olympic educational program, realized on the basis of the RIOU, allowed more than one and a half thousand of Russian and foreign specialists, occupying key positions in our most demanded sphere of activity, in less than two academic years to pass courses of professional development and professional.

    Receiving the most positive feedback from the participants of the Olympic educational program, the ROC intends to continue and strengthen cooperation with the university, support the development and implementation of new, more relevant training courses, and gradual diversification of their orientation.

    Rector of the RIOU, Professor Lev Belousov cited several facts confirming the successful development of the educational institution.
    – The University is progressing. The main evidence of this is that second year in a row on the only international rating SportBusiness International, RIOU ranks second in Europe. It’s the hallmark of success all over the world. Another proof is the growth of the competition, from about 15 to 18 people per place depending on the trajectory of studies. We even have to toughen the enrollment. The fact that the guys are becoming stronger shows that we are on the right track,” Lev Belousov emphasized.

    The honorary guest of the graduation ceremony, silver medalist of the 2002 Olympic Games in figure skating Ilya Averbukh added that Russian sports is in dire need of in such graduates.

    “This market  is in absolute chaos, we really need the specialists, trained here, and I hope that very soon everything will be corrected thanks to them,” said the well-known figure skater.

    During the year of study at the RIOU, students master such topics as “Economics of Sports and Olympic Games”, “Management, Policy and Olympic Movement”, “Studies in Sports Management”, “Sports and Olympic Games as Business”, “Sports Marketing and Communications”. Already next year, anti-doping regulation topics will become mandatory on all courses.

    The course is taught by well-known Russian and foreign experts, professors from leading universities and Olympic research centers around the world.

    Much attention is paid to practical training and internships. RIOU students did their internships at the Winter Olympic Games, the Grand Prix stages of the Formula-1, and are trained at major international competitions and in the offices of the leading sports companies.

    – The Olympic University in Sochi is a unique project of its kind. This is one of the few educational institutions that trains specialists in sports management at a high level. Today, more than ever, such education is relevant in the sports industry and, in particular, the Russian Olympic Committee. We will continue to cooperate and, of course, all graduates who have successfully completed their studies and have written a diploma will be in demand in our country,” Stanislav Pozdnyakov stressed.

    Today the Russian International Olympic University conducts enrollment for the course “Master of Sports Administration”, applications will be excepted until the end of summer.
