The Russian Olympic team took first place in the unofficial medal standings of the 3rd Winter Youth Olympic Games. Our athletes won 29 medals – 10 gold medals, 11 silver medals and 8 bronze medals. Switzerland came second with 24 medals (10-6-8), while Japan was placed third with 17 medals (9-7-1).
Today the scheduled meeting of the ANOC Executive Council took place in Lausanne at ANOC Headquarters. Stanislav Pozdnyakov was present at the meeting as the Chairman of the ANOC Culture and Education Commission.
Shortly before the opening ceremony of the 3rd Winter Youth Olympic Games, the President of the ROC visited the Olympic village of Lausanne where many young athletes are staying. He held informal talks with young Russian athletes due to compete in the Games, their coaches and supervisors.
On Christmas Eve at the Novogorsk Training Center, a seeing-off ceremony was organized for the Russian Olympic team set to participate at the the 3rd Winter Youth Olympic Games scheduled to kick off in Lausanne on January 9. The first group of young Olympians numbering 68 athletes arrives in Switzerland on January 7.

The 10th European Olympic Committees (EOC) Athletes’ Forum was held in Dublin and was attended by more than 60 representatives from Athletes’ Commissions of the National Olympic Committees across the continent.

ROC President Stanislav Pozdnyakov held a working meeting in Moscow with the head of the International Federation for Equestrian Sports (FEI) and member of the IOC Ingmar De Vos. Both sides discussed prospects for developing equestrian sport in our country, the participation of the Russian dressage team in the Olympic Games in Tokyo, as well as issues related to organizing major international competitions in the Russian Federation.
The IOC Programme Commission met in Lausanne on November 11. The meeting was attended by the leaders of National Olympic Committees, IOC experts, as well as the representatives of WADA and international federations.
Advisor to the President of the Russian Federation, First Vice President of the ROC and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Table Tennis Federation of Russia (TTFR) shared his views on the development of table tennis and encouraged young people to take up this sport.
