  • The IOC Executive Board meeting has announced that seven new competitions will join the Winter Olympic programme for Beijing 2022. Herewith several new team competitions, both men’s and women’s, will be added at once.

    Among those are: Short Track mixed team relay, mixed team Snowboard cross, Ski Jumping mixed team event,  Aerials mixed team event. The Freestyle skiing programme will also be expanded by men’s and women’s big air (the Snowboard big air made its debut in Pyongyang in 2018). Another new discipline is women’s monobobsled.

    – We are committed to making the Olympic Games more attractive for youth and  gender balanced,  IOC Sports Director Kit McConnell said.

    In the press release the IOC said that female quota positions will increase from 41 per cent to 45.44 per cent. The disciplines of skeleton, speed skating, Alpine skiing, cross country, freestyle and snowboard will all move to gender balance for the first time.

    The Athletes’ Commissions of the Russian Olympic Committee and the National Olympic Committee of the Republic of Belarus recently convened at the Vytoki Festival.

    The Athletes’ Commissions of the Russian Olympic Committee and the National Olympic Committee of the Republic of Belarus held a joint meeting in the town of Pastavy, located in the Vitebsk region, as part of the XXI sports and cultural festival Vytoki.

    On June 3rd, Vyborg hosted the opening of the IX World Games of Young Compatriots and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization member states. The large-scale competitions will feature around 450 athletes aged 14-18 from 35 countries.
