Yesterday, July 7, an extended online meeting was held with the participation of members of the Athletes’ Commission of the Russian Olympic Committee (ROC), as well as more than 50 representatives of national sports federations and athlete members of Team ROC.
Chair of the ROC Athletes’ Commission, Olympic champion Sofya Velikaya, emphasized that in the lead-up to the Games in Tokyo, there is heightened attention from fans, the media, and the public toward future participants. At the same time, athletes need to maintain maximum focus on their training and the upcoming major event. In this regard, the ROC Athletes’ Commission decided to hold the meeting in an expanded format, inviting team leaders, representatives of national sports federations, and athlete members of Team ROC to discuss the most relevant topics.
Head of the ROC Information Service and Press Secretary Konstantin Vybornov provided key recommendations on interaction with the media during the Games period.

Deputy Head of the Legal Department of the Russian Olympic Committee (ROC) Viktor Berezov drew the participants’ attention to the four rules of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) aimed at preventing the manipulation of competition results and outlined the key aspects of Rules 40 and 50 of the Olympic Charter.
Information on the main COVID-19 requirements that will be applied in Tokyo was presented by Lev Savin, Head of the Department for Ensuring Participation in the Olympic Games of the ROC Main Directorate for Participation in Olympic Sports Events.
Secretary of the ROC Athletes’ Commission and Senior Specialist of the International Relations Department Ekaterina Gorokhova reminded participants that elections for new members of the IOC Athletes’ Commission will take place during the Tokyo Games. Competition participants will have the opportunity to vote for four out of 30 candidates representing four different sports.
In preparation for the Olympic Games, the IOC Athletes’ Commission has prepared informational materials containing useful information for athletes, as well as various exclusive offers for Olympians.
