The Secretary General of the ROC Rodion Plitukhin held a working meeting via video-conference with the Secretary General of NOC Eswatini Maxwell Jele.
The parties discussed issues of strengthening humanitarian and sports cooperation, and also exchanged views on the current agenda.
Rodion Plitukhin invited the NOC Eswatini delegation to take part in the International Forum of Young Olympians, which will be held on June 1 in Moscow, and also spoke about the existing options for training sports managers and specialists at the Russian International Olympic University (RIOU) under the Master of Sports Administration program.
Special attention was paid to the planned participation of NOC Eswatini in the Second Summit “Russia – Africa Economic and Humanitarian Forum”, due to be held in St. Petersburg in July, where it is planned to sign a Memorandum of Cooperation between the NOCs.
– It is very important that after our face-to-face meeting, which took place last autumn in Moscow, we not only continue meaningful dialogue, but also implement the relevant agreements reached. In particular, this concerns the participation of Eswatini athletes in training events and competitions taking place in Russia. We will be happy to continue cooperation in this and other areas within the framework of partnerships, – said the Secretary General of the ROC.
Maxwell Jele, in turn, thanked the ROC for the invitation to the International Forum of Young Olympians, as well as for assistance in matters of great importance for athletes and representatives of the Eswatini sports and Olympic movement.
– In preparation for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, our country is counting on the help of a strong and authoritative sports power such as Russia. Last year, with the assistance of the ROC, Eswatini boxers received an invaluable opportunity to train with the best athletes in the Russian Federation. Such joint events are extremely important in terms of improving the skills of our Olympians and gaining the necessary confidence on the eve of important competitions, – said the Secretary General of NOC Eswatini.
