Rodion Plitukhin and Djordje Visacki, Secretaries-General of the Russian Olympic Committee and NOC Serbia, respectively, discussed the development of partnership relations in the humanitarian sphere between both NOCs via video-conference.
Rodion Plitukhin noted that with organizational and financial support, Russian basketball players recently held a training camp in Serbia. According to the Secretary General of the ROC, holding such events, along with friendly matches between the teams of Serbia and Russia, shall fully contribute to the strengthening of sports ties between the two countries and among the national federations.
Rodion Plitukhin said that the acceptance of applications from partner NOCs for studying at the Russian International Olympic University (RIOU) in 2023/2024 under the international program “Master of Sport Administration” is underway. The parties discussed topical issues on the international sports agenda and the current situation regarding the admission of Russian and Belarusian athletes to international competitions.
Djordje Visacki, on behalf of the leaders of the Olympic movement of Serbia, thanked his Russian counterpart for the opportunity to take part in the joint educational project of ROC and RIOU. He also expressed hope for the early return of Russian athletes to participate in international tournaments, including Olympic qualification events, confirming the need for undeniable adherence to the Olympic Charter and to a non-discriminatory approach.
