Stanislav Pozdnyakov: “ROC consistently and rigorously supports our sports organizations, which make a huge contribution to the development of elite sport”

Employees of the ROC were awarded medals as part of the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Central Sports Club of the Army (CSKA).

The Russian Olympic Committee hosted a solemn ceremony of awarding employees of the ROC as part of the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Central Sports Club of the Army. Commemorative medals were awarded for assistance in the preparation and performance of Russian athletes at the Games of the XXXII Olympiad in Tokyo and at the XXIV Olympic Winter Games in Beijing. ROC President Stanislav Pozdnyakov and Head of CSKA Artem Gromov addressed the participants of the event.

– First of all, on behalf of the entire leadership of the Central Army Sports Club and from me personally, I would like to say thank you for the support which the Russian Olympic Committee has provided in the preparation of our athletes, – said Artem Gromov in his welcoming speech. – Our goals and objectives are similar to yours. However, the ROC’s objectives have a larger scope within the Olympic Movement, and these awards are a sign of our great and sincere respect for the efforts that you have made contributing to the maximum performance of our athletes. CSKA is a big, strong organization, and it can only be so with your support. I hope that in the future together we will achieve new successes for the benefit of Russian sport.

– The Russian Olympic Committee consistently and rigorously, regardless of momentary circumstances, supports our sports organizations, which make a huge contribution to the development of elite sport. CSKA is certainly one of them, for many decades maintaining its commitment to the true Olympic values and bringing glory to our country with bright victories, records and Olympic medals.

We consider the current situation, namely the inability of CSKA to perform on the world stage, to be discriminatory. In this regard, we express our solidarity and full support to the athletes, coaches and specialists of CSKA, Dynamo and other organizations who have been illegally and unreasonably deprived of the opportunity to participate in international competitions. At the same time, I agree with my colleagues that justice will eventually prevail through our joint efforts, – Stanislav Pozdnyakov said in his speech.
