  • The President of the Russian Olympic Committee congratulated all sports and healthy lifestyle enthusiasts on the occasion of the upcoming national sports holiday – All-Russian Walking Day!

    Stanislav Pozdnyakov:

    Dear friends!

This year, on October 3 and 4, the Russian Olympic Committee will organize All-Russian Walking Day for the sixth time. Novorossiysk has been chosen as the central venue for the large-scale holiday, where many sports, educational and entertainment activities with the participation of famous Olympians are due to be held. The highlight of the festive holiday will be covering a walking distance of 2020 metres in support of the Russian Olympic team at the Games of the XXXII Olympiad set to be held in Tokyo next year.

The ROC actively cooperates with The Association For International Sport for All (TAFISA) and, as part of the Olympic Country programme, supports several projects promoting the development of mass sports in Russia. That is why for us All-Russian Walking Day is one of the most important sporting events reflecting the essence of our activities.

I am pleased to invite all sports and healthy lifestyle enthusiasts to celebrate All-Russian Walking Day by talking a sports walk in the fresh air. In some regions, due to restrictions introduced as a result of the coronavirus pandemic, the festive holiday will be held online. But thankfully modern mobile devices allow us to share our good mood and positive emotions with each other even at a distance.

I wish all participants good health, good spirits and a splendid stroll!

On behalf of the ROC, I would like to thank our partners for their assistance and support in organizing the 6th All-Russian Walking Day: the General sponsor of the Russian Olympic Team – global energy company Gazprom, the General Partner of the ROC – Russia’s largest airline Aeroflot, the official outfitter of the Russian Olympic Team ZASPORT, as well as the Partner of the ROC – mining and metallurgical company Nornickel.
